How much does rendering a house cost?
It depends on the size of the walls, the system and how much prep is needed. As a rough guide, silicone render on a typical semi often lands somewhere between £6,000 and £12,000 plus scaffolding, and external wall insulation costs more. Try our quote estimator for a ballpark, then we'll give you a fixed price after a free survey.
Are your quotes free?
Yes. We'll visit, look at the walls properly, talk you through the options and send a clear written quote. No pressure, no hard sell.
How long does a job take?
A typical semi takes around one to two weeks for silicone render and two to four weeks for external wall insulation. The weather has the final say, and we'll keep you updated.
Do I need to be home?
No. As long as we can get to the walls and have access to water and power, you can carry on as normal.
Can you render in winter?
Render needs to stay above about 5°C and dry while it cures. We work all year round but plan the critical coats around the forecast, and won't risk your finish to hit a date.
Which render is best?
For most homes we recommend silicone: it's self-cleaning, flexible and never needs painting. Acrylic is a good value alternative, and traditional sand and cement still suits plinths and period repairs.
Will render stop damp?
Good render keeps driving rain out of your walls, which helps a lot with penetrating damp. Rising damp and condensation have other causes, and we'll tell you honestly if render isn't the fix.
Can you match my neighbour's colour?
Usually, yes. Through-coloured renders come in hundreds of shades and we can sample against an existing wall.
Do you organise scaffolding?
Yes. We arrange it with trusted local scaffolders and include it clearly in your quote.
Do you take away the waste?
Always. Old render, packaging and offcuts are bagged and removed, and we leave the site cleaner than we found it.
Do I need planning permission?
For most houses, re-rendering doesn't need planning permission, but conservation areas, listed buildings and some estates have rules. EWI can also have building regulations requirements. We'll flag anything at survey.
How do I look after silicone render?
Very little. A gentle low-pressure wash every few years keeps it bright. No painting needed.
