Choosing a colour
A few tips from 20 years of samples.
Go a shade softer than you think
Colours look lighter and brighter on a whole house than on a sample card. Off-whites usually look whiter than pure white.
Look at the roof and windows
Warm creams suit red-brown tiles. Greys and chalk whites pair beautifully with slate and anthracite frames.
Think about the plinth
A darker band at the bottom hides rain splash-back and gives the house a solid base.
